A few weeks ago, my Grandma invited me over a pork chop lunch. These were so good, I definitely had more than one serving! When she told me how she made it, I couldn’t believe how simple it was! Plus when pork chops go on sale, it also makes a budget-friendly recipe.
Quick and easy pork chops in cream sauce
Ingredients:
- 4 1/2-inch thick pork chops
- 2 shallots
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tbsp butter
- salt
- pepper
Directions:
Step 1: Soak pork chops in cold water for about 30 minutes. Drain, then pat dry with paper towel
Step 2: While pork chops are soaking, slice shallots.
Step 3: Melt butter in a medium pan over medium heat. Add shallots and sauté until they start to soften.
Step 4: Season both sides of pork chops with salt and pepper.
Step 5: Remove shallots and butter from pan; keep aside.
Step 6: Add pork chops to the same pan. Cook for 5 minutes (or until browned), flip, then cook for another 5 minutes. You may have to repeat this step if you can’t fit your pork chops in the same pan.
Step 7: Remove pork chops and set aside on a plate.
Step 8: Return shallots to pan and turn heat to low. Pour in the cream and stir until it starts to simmer. Return pork chops back to the pan and simmer for ~5 minutes per side.
Step 9: Remove pork chops from pan and serve on a plate, then pour cream sauce on top. Serve with hot rice and veggies.
Enjoy!
That looks and sounds so delicious. And so easy, even I could cook it!
It sounds like your grandma is the “go to” person for cooking tips. 🙂

You’re right! Between her and my mom, I’ve got some pretty massive shoes to fill! Grandma also says that the best place to buy shallots (in Canada anyway) is Costco – $5/bag and they are fresh and last a long time!
